Jaguar C-Type
March 12, 2025The D-Type was built by Jaguar from 1954 to 1957. Around 75 cars were built in total and it was even more successful than it’s predecessor, winning Le Mans in 1955, 1956, and 1957. It shared many of its mechanical components with the C Type, including the race proven XK twin cam 6 cylinder engine, however it’s use of an aluminium monocoque chassis and advanced aerodynamics from aviation world meant this car kept Jaguar at the forefront of competitive motor racing.
The XKSS was based on the remaining 25 incomplete D-Types when Jaguar factory team retired in 1956, and incorporated a number of luxuries to make it into a road car. Due to a fire in the Jaguar factory in 1957, 9 of the 25 cars were lost.
