July 15, 2025Cobra Daytona build progress
Work is well underway in our workshop on two separate Cobra Daytona’s that have both been commissioned by customers.
The first car has the body and chassis mostly completed.
On the second car the chassis is starting to take shape, and the front clam is shaped but yet to have the headlight buckets cut out.
Check back for further progress updates…

History – The Shelby Daytona Coupe was a purpose-built American sports coupe, an evolution of the Shelby Cobra designed by Pete Brock in 1964-1965 to beat Ferrari in the FIA GT World Championship. The car used a unique aerodynamic design (a truncated tail) to achieve high speeds on European circuits where the roadster struggled.
The car was built on a Cobra chassis with a Ford V8, the six original coupes won the 1965 GT Manufacturers’ Championship. This made Shelby the first American manufacturer to win a world title. Before the program was superseded by the Ford GT40 project. Based around the chassis and drivetrain of the legendary AC Cobra.
The Shelby Cobra Daytona was designed by American Pete Brock for Shelby from the outset as a racing car. The aerodynamic body work was designed especially to overcome the AC Cobra’s lack of efficiency in this area. As a result the Daytona had a top speed more than 50 km/hr higher than the open topped Cobra.
The car enjoyed much racing success, particularly winning the International Championship for GT Manufacturers in 1965. Six cars were originally built.
